Hello everyone, and welcome back to our first newsletter of term 4. It is wonderful to see so many of our students back to school this term, rested and eager to learn!
This term we welcome Mr Jaxon and Ms Liv to our staff team. Jaxon is a classroom support tutor, and Liv has taken on the Garden Maintenance position. On behalf of the school, I would like to thank Liv for coordinating a working bee last weekend to clear the gardens from the leaves and debris of the past few months. A huge thank you also to the parents, community members and students who attended and helped us out on the day. Many hands make light work, and the efforts from everyone who came along was phenomenal, thank you!
This week we have also farewelled Ms Cat. We would like to thank Cat for her ongoing support to students, for her unwavering passion to improve student outcomes in literacy, and her dedication. Fortunately, many of our families will see her in her new role at Seagrass and OSHC.
We were fortunate to have our school counsellor Andy on site this week. Andy is also a black belt karate guru, so whilst he was onsite he delivered whole class Karate instruction. Whilst our school counsellors are onsite they work with students in a variety of therapeutic sessions throughout the week. This is service that is provided in conjunction with the education department allied health team and is open for all students who require the service. Please contact your child’s teacher should you wish to refer your child to this service.
To support our families to navigate parenting and useful advice we will be linking information and factsheets on a range of topics to our school website. This week we have included insight on getting kids to school on time without the yelling! Please keep an eye out each week for the Insights that are linked through our school newsletter.
Last week we held a year 4/5/6 camp. The camp was a huge success! Student behaviour was impeccable, and all school values were upheld throughout the entire two days. A big thank you to all staff who assisted, slept over and organised the event.
Our next upcoming event is the Halloween Disco. The Halloween Disco will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room on Monday 31st October at 4pm. Bring your spookiest costume and your dancing shoes!
A reminder that Student Led Conferences will be held in week 4. Please take a note of opening times for classrooms and allow enough time to visit each of your child’s classes. More details for this event will be sent via SeeSaw.
This fortnight our school value focus is on Safety. Please continue to echo the discussions that we are having with student at school, around how they can be safe at school.
A special mention to Ms Gaynor, who has been named a finalist as the Northern Territory Primary Teacher of the Year. Winners are announced on the afternoon of World Teacher’s Day which is next Friday 28th October. Goodluck Ms Gaynor!
