Principal's Message
Hello Familes,
I hope this newsletter finds you well. As we dive into the second week of Term 2, I want to take a moment to reflect on some recent events and share important updates with you all.
Last week, we held our ANZAC Day assembly at our school to honour the brave people who have served our country. Thank you to Mr Molnar for organising the assembly, and well done to our students who ensured it was respectful occasion. I also want to congratulate Jesse and Ethan, our school leaders, for representing us admirably at the ANZAC Day service at the Golf Club.
Following the havoc wreaked by Tropical Cyclone Megan, I want to again thank Mr Molnar and the GCC crew for their solid effort in assisting with the clean-up of debris around our school. It was a great feeling to see the caution tape disappear across the school!
Unfortunately, our respite from the chaos was short-lived. On Tuesday evening, a fire broke out in one of our classrooms. As a result, classes for 3/4 and 1/2J have been relocated, and we are awaiting inspection and assessment from DIPL to determine our next steps.
Due to the challenges of relocating classes and the lack of available spaces, the Book Fair will be postponed until further notice. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.
I want to commend our Student Representative Council for the successful school lunch they organised. Your efforts are truly appreciated to raise funds for our school.
This Thursday, we are excited to host the Alyangula Area School Athletics Carnival. Students will engage in field events throughout the morning across the school. Preschool students from both groups will be attending school in the morning (8-11) and will be joining Transition and Year 1 students for some special athletics events from 8.00am-10.30 am.
Students from Years 2-12 will participate in field events according to their age groups from 8.15am -12.30pm. The day will conclude and students will be dismissed at 12:30pm with students due to reconvene at the Town Oval for the track events from 4pm. Friends and families are encouraged to attend and support their children across both field and track events. A BBQ will be available at the town, with funds raised going towards new sporting equipment. We welcome any helpers to run events or the BBQ! Please contact the office if you are available to support in any capacity!
You may have noticed contractors onsite working on various school improvement projects. We are excited about the progress being made, including the installation of new blinds, pin boards, painting, and gutter work. Stay tuned for before and after pictures!
A reminder that Monday, May 6th, is the May Day Public holiday and as such there will be no school.
Have a great weekend everyone.
