2024 Term 3 Week 2 Newsletter
Principal's Message
Hello Families,
Welcome back to school for the second semester! I hope everyone had a refreshing break and is ready for an exciting Term 3.
We are thrilled to introduce some new members of our school community:
- Ms Chantelle (T/1 Teacher)
- Mr. Zane (Wellbeing Teacher)
- Mr. Russell (Classroom Support)
- Ms. Rita (Classroom Support)
- Ms. Chrissy (Classroom Support)
We also welcome back Ms. Katrina from Long Service Leave and Mr. Jaxon from his overseas travels.
Congratulations to our staff and students for a smooth transition back to school, showcasing a strong commitment to our school values. It's wonderful to see these values in action across our school community.
This week, our Year 9 students successfully completed their Certificate I in Conservation Ecosystem Management through the INLOC block delivery. Congratulations to these students on their hard work and achievement!
Preschool Lorikeets group also had a special visit from Kobe the Police Dog. Pre-schoolers were able to meet Kobe, watch her tricks and have a pat. Thanks to the Alyangula Police for visiting.
Next week, we will hold our Student-Led Conferences from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, 30th July. These conferences provide a fantastic opportunity for students to share their learning journey with their families. We highly encourage attendance and participation. A sausage sizzle will be available during the event.
On Friday, 2nd August, we will have our Colour Fun Run at school. This year, we are excited to introduce a new running track that encompasses our school oval, along Poinciana, through the ASEC, through the park, and back to the school. Students are encouraged to wear white shirts for the event. Family members are most welcome to assist or participate with their children. A schedule will be sent home on Tuesday, 30th July. Our Colour Fun Run is a fundraising event, and students are encouraged to seek sponsorship from families and friends to participate. We have sourced an array of prizes for students with the highest sponsorship, as well as spot prizes throughout the fundraising term. This year, the funds raised from the Colour Fun Run will go towards 3D Printers and STEAM equipment to revamp our STEM programs!
We have received the NAPLAN results in the mail today. Students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 who sat the NAPLAN testing in March will bring home their individual results on Tuesday. These results provide valuable insights into your child's learning progress and areas for improvement. Please keep an eye out for this in your child's school bag. A reminder will be sent via SeeSaw and Facebook on Tuesday.
Please note that Monday, 4th August, is a Picnic Day Public Holiday, and there will be no school.
Looking forward to a fantastic term ahead!

Colour Fun Run
Alyangula Area School is running an online sponsored Colour Run fundraiser to encourage our students to get active and to raise much needed funds towards a range of resources and initiatives including sports equipment and playground activities.
Our Colour Run is a great way to bring our school together to work towards a common goal, the results of which will benefit all our current and future students.
All pupils will be seeking online sponsorship for their participation in our Colour Run. All funds raised will go towards our upgrades. The funds raised by our school community make a huge difference in enhancing the overall school environment and we couldn’t undertake such amazing projects without your support!
How will this fundraiser work? We are using online fundraising company Go Raise It. Collecting sponsorship online makes it super easy for everyone - no more door knocking, your child can collect more donations from further afield (friends and family living overseas, work colleagues etc) and no need to worry about handling all that cash.
How do I sign my child up to fundraise online? Each child can sign up for their very own fundraising web page to send out to collect online sponsorship from anyone, anywhere!
Multiple children in your family? No problem, all children can sit under the same email address. You’ll find a button to set up another page while logged in to the fundraising account you created first.
Do I have to sign up for an online account to fundraise? We would love everyone to have an online account as this allows the club to significantly reduce the administration overhead of collecting and dealing with cash. Go Raise It adhere to strict cyber safe guidelines, and this is built into our fundraising website. If you really do not want an online fundraising page, and still want to participate please check with the club office to see if you can collect cash.
Prizes:
We have a great range of fundraising prizes available including spot prizes and overall fundraising prizes for classes/individuals. Please see the Prizes page linked on the Fundraising Hub page of our fundraising website.
