2024 Term 3 Week 6 Newsletter
Principal's Message
Hi Families,
This week, we had a fantastic time celebrating Book Week! The highlight was undoubtedly the Book Week Parade, where students dazzled us with their creativity and enthusiasm, donning a wide array of amazing costumes. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and made the event such a success.
Don’t forget, the Book Fair is still open! Visit us at the Arcade Shop 1 this Saturday from 10am to 12pm to explore a wonderful selection of books.
Last week, we celebrated Science Week with a series of incredible activities. Students enjoyed hands-on experiments during lunchtimes, participated in exciting livestream incursions, and engaged in a whole host of other scientific adventures. It was a week filled with discovery and learning, and we’re grateful to everyone who contributed.
Thank you to all our families and friends for your generous support in donating to the School Colour Fun Run. The online sponsorship page will remain open for two more weeks, closing on the 4th of September. Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers on Monday, 16th September. Let’s keep up the momentum! We are so close to $7,000!
This week, we also kicked off our School Police Program. Constable Stevie led valuable online safety workshops for students in Years 5/6, 7/8, and the senior years. These sessions are crucial in helping our students navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. The School Police program will run for two days each term for these year levels and will cover a range of age-appropriate content.
A friendly reminder to families with students in Year 5/6 and 7/8: Camp is happening this week! Please ensure all preparations are in place for what promises to be an exciting experience for our students.
Best of luck to our students who will be performing in Darwin at BEAT in Week 8 and to those representing East Arnhem in the Regional Athletics in Weeks 8 and 9. We are incredibly proud of your achievements and wish you all the best.
We currently have a vacancy on our School Council for the role of Secretary. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mel Colville for her long-term dedication and support of the school in this role. The School Council plays a vital part in the governance and success of our school, and we encourage interested community members to consider this opportunity to contribute. Please reach out to Elise Reid (Chairperson) or myself if you are interested in joining the Council.
We would like to remind everyone to complete the School Opinion Survey if you haven’t done so already. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us understand what we are doing well and where we can improve. Thank you to those who have already taken the time to share their thoughts with us. Your input directly influences the development and direction of our school, ensuring we continue to meet the needs of our students and community.
Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community.
Best regards,
Mel Dougherty
