I’d like to extend a big thank you to everyone involved in the coordination and organisation of the Year 5/6 and 7/8 camps in Week 7. A special mention to Ms. Malan, Mr. Nolan, Ms. Shaz, Ms. Nadine, and Ms. Sarah for going above and beyond by spending time away from their families to stay overnight at “camp”. Your dedication and commitment ensure that these valuable experiences happen for our students, and we are incredibly grateful for your efforts!
A huge thanks also goes out to all the dads and special people in the lives of our AAS students who joined us for our Father’s Day Breakfast. It was wonderful to see the school filled with smiling faces and the smell of delicious bacon and eggs. Thank you to our amazing staff for preparing such a tasty feast! We hope all the dads enjoyed some well-deserved R&R and were spoilt last weekend.
I’d like to extend a big congratulations to our Senior Choir, who travelled to Darwin to perform at the BEAT Festival. The girls were absolute superstars on stage, and we couldn’t be prouder! A huge thank you to our sponsors and to Ms. Bartley for the hard work and dedication in preparing our students for this incredible opportunity. Thanks also to Ms. Gaby for chaperoning and supporting the girls during their time in Darwin – it was a truly memorable experience for all involved.
Well done to Cooper J, Duwayne, Mathias, Yvette, and Robert, who represented the East Arnhem Track and Field team at the NT Athletics Championships in Darwin this week. We are so proud of their achievements! Thank you to Mr. Molnar and Bushfit for travelling with our Alyangula team and supporting them in their sporting endeavours.
A friendly reminder that Thursday, 12th September, is Alyangula Area School’s annual Arts and Culture Festival! On this day, the usual school routine will be replaced with students engaging in Art and Culture activities. Families and students will reconvene at the school grounds, near the basketball court, for the evening festival. Families are kindly reminded to bring along a plate of food from the culture that your child’s class is celebrating. These foods will be sold at the festival starting at 5 PM. Packaging options and containers will be available for collection from the admin office starting Monday. After the food stalls, each class will perform a dance from their chosen culture. We can’t wait to see all of our families there!
Lastly, a quick reminder that next week is school photo week! This year, our school photos will be taken by local photographer Eilis Smart from Arnhem Shore Photography. Please make sure to check the schedule to know when your child/ren will be photographed. No sports uniforms are to be worn in school photos – please remind students to come dressed in full school uniform on their scheduled day.
Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend, and good luck to all the ladies competing in the upcoming ladies fishing competition!
Best regards,
Mel Dougherty
